Dear visitors to Gessnerallee, dear artists

Steps, the Migros Culture Percentage dance festival, is moving into Gessnerallee. But that's not all: the next few weeks will be busy and exciting.

In March, the Gessnerallee will present four international, high-calibre guest performances. To mark the occasion, the Gessnerallee will be putting on a special show: Only a few times a year is the large grandstand with around 400 seats set up in the hall. Three of the productions are taking place in cooperation with Steps, the Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival, and there is also the theatre event of the last two years, ‘CADELA FORÇA TRILOGY – Chapter I: The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella’ by Carolina Bianchi Y Cara de Cavalo. There are only a few seats left for the performances of ‘IN THE BRAIN’, and the others are also filling up quickly. So secure your tickets now.

And for those who don't want to wait until Steps begins, the works of Simone Aughterlony, Anna Papst and Vincent Glanzmann, and Monika Truong + Accomplices offer the opportunity to experience great artistic works, while the monthly themes with CORRECTIV.Schweiz provide in-depth insights into research on the international networking of right-wing extremists.

‘Sphynx’, tanzmainz (DE) by Rafaële Giovanola

In her award-winning choreography, Swiss choreographer Rafaële Giovanola works with 14 dancers from tanzmainz on the seemingly endless and fascinating universe of the human musculoskeletal system. ‘Sphynx’ is not only a study of movement, but a thoughtful declination of the locomotion of mobile humans – implemented with precision and extreme consistency. ‘IN THE BRAIN’ by Shechter II (GBR), Hofesh Shechter

Hofesh Shechter, known for the high intensity and dynamism of his characteristic ensemble work, has developed a full-length piece with his Junior Company, which will celebrate its world premiere as part of Steps. Together with the eight performers, the UK-based choreographer explores the freedom, energy and intimacy found in both club culture and contemporary dance: a collective experience for all the senses. ‘Dances Like a Bomb’ by Junk Ensemble (IRL), Jessica and Megan Kennedy

A powerful and moving duet on the theme of ageing and care. Behind this successful production are Irish twin sisters Jessica and Megan Kennedy from Junk Ensemble. Together with the performers, they have created a dance theatre piece that provides insight into the relationship between two elderly people: Former Pina Bausch dancer Finola Cronan and actor Luc Dunberry meet in a dark room. What unfolds over the course of the following hour is an entertaining sequence of short scenes that culminate in a devoted and touching evening of dance: sometimes theatrical, sometimes vulnerable and often hilarious. ‘CADELA FORÇA TRILOGY – Chapter I: The Bride and the Goodnight Cinderella’ by Carolina Bianchi Y Cara de Cavalo

A poetic evening into the human abyss, dealing with the brutal violence against women as a result of knockout drops. The play by Brazilian director Carolina Bianchi, in its vulnerability and enormous power, is a radical reflection on violence against women, art and death. The internationally acclaimed production is finally coming to Zurich, a city that is deeply affected by the subject matter. To the tickets
