Carolina Bianchi in Zurich

Radical and poetic: with CADELA FORÇA TRILOGY – Chapter I: The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella, the Brazilian artist has created an internationally acclaimed theatre experience that deals with violence against women as a result of knockout drops. Weekly letter #72

Team Gessnerallee, 11 March 2026

Dear visitors to Gessnerallee, dear artists

‘A theatre evening that leaves you speechless’, ‘radical theatre that goes far beyond personal trauma’, ‘about the possibilities of theatre and its limits’, ‘between narrative and performance, this play about gender-based violence leaves no one untouched’ – "CADELA FORÇA TRILOGY – Chapter I: The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella" by Brazilian author and director Carolina Bianchi has been making waves in the international press since its premiere in 2023 at the Avignon Theatre Festival.

And with good reason: the play is a poetic evening on the edge of the human abyss, dealing with the brutal violence against women as a result of knockout drops. The audience can expect a multi-layered collage of stories, images and figures from art history, through which the complexity of dealing with these cruel experiences unfolds.

On Sunday, 29 March, the internationally acclaimed production finally comes to Zurich. Secure your tickets now!

Miriam Walther, co-director of the Gessnerallee, met Carolina Bianchi for an interview (only in German) a few weeks ago. In it, the celebrated artist talks about her international breakthrough, her career and her artistic practice. It's about theatre as an existential necessity and as a space of infinite possibilities; confusion as a perspective and friendship as a survival strategy.

Read it now online on our website or in the 7th issue of our newspaper (orders to: zeitung@gessnerallee.ch).
