The programme in February

Four premieres, two discussion series, legal advice and a workshop. Weekly letter #67

Team Gessnerallee, 4 February 2026

Dear visitors to Gessnerallee, dear artists

Everything will get better, according to the Chinese horoscope. Because 17 February marks the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse, and with it a year full of energy, passion, courage and freedom. We ask ourselves: does that apply to everyone?

If you also have a few questions about the world, February at the Gessnerallee offers plenty to talk about and perhaps a few answers. With ‘Raskrsnice’, ‘TÜR’, ‘Toi(fel), Toi(fel), Toi(fel)’ and ‘Collaps in 5 Acts: There Is Porn of It’, you can look forward to four premieres by local artists, two debates with the discussion series ‘Monthly Topics’ and ‘Art in Conflict’, and ‘Relaxed Partying’, a two-day workshop on making events accessible to neurodivergent and chronically ill people. And for legal questions, ARITA (Rights in the Arts) offers monthly legal advice.

We are looking to the future with confidence. And we are very excited about the programme in February.

Four premieres by local artists

5 to 8 February

‘Raskrsnice’ by Kursk

With the help of video recordings, soundscapes and documentary texts, Kursk's new play, created in collaboration with Indian migrant workers on a Chinese construction site in Serbia, shows how solidarity struggles are prevented by large corporations, as they often operate beyond national legal jurisdictions. And how such solidarity struggles can still succeed in cooperation with local trade unions, NGOs and committed citizens. Workers and trade unionists tell their stories on stage. More information

‘TÜR’ by Kids in Dance

For two weeks, they will once again make the north wing of the Gessnerallee their second home – this year with the theme of doors. The audience will join them on their journey through emotions, doors and worlds. More information

Director, author and dramaturge Anna Papst and multidisciplinary artist Vincent Glanzmann work in their OPEN STUDIO on Papst's new text ‘Toi(fel), Toi(fel), Toi(fel)’ and take the audience on an acoustic tour through neighbourhoods and emotional states. Collapse in 5 Acts: There Is Porn of It by Simone Aughterlony

Amidst swathes of fog, fallen pipes and broken monuments, enigmatic figures meet: a king, a narrator, a radical fairy, tourists, wounded people, a horse, an architect. Together they create a space of opacity, eroticism and fragile connections – an aesthetic of collapse. Aughterlony invites the audience to view the ruins of everything we have built and inherited as available remnants for a romance with the future. More information

Lovis Heuss has been active as an artist, DJ (Midnight Snack Collective) and drag artist (The Heart Throb Mob) and, in the two-day event ‘Relaxed Feiern,’ is working with Gessnerallee and interested event organisers and communities to explore how neurodivergent and chronically ill knowledge and consulting expertise can be better utilised in the context of partying.
