How can partying and events be made accessible for neurodivergent and chronically ill people? Lovis Heuss has been actively involved in club contexts for years as an artist, DJ (Midnight Snack Collective), and drag artist (The Heart Throb Mob). In the two-day workshop «Relaxed Partying», they want to explore how neurodivergent and chronically ill knowledge and consulting expertise can be better applied in the context of partying with Gessnerallee and interested event organizers and communities.

The first day offers an introduction to the topics of neurodivergence and chronic illness. It is aimed at clubs, organizations, collectives, and other individuals from the party scene who want to learn more about accessibility. In addition to an introduction to neurodiversity and accessibility by Lovis Heuss, there will be an input from the initiative ‘Barrierefrei Feiern’ (Germany) and exchange formats.

The second day is specifically aimed at neurodivergent and chronically ill communities, with the intention of gathering information about various needs and accessibility requirements, networking, and imagining new formats for accessible partying together. The day will be rounded off with an online input from Byron Vincent, founder of the club format «Disco Neurotico» from England.

Registration

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
The first day (February 7th) is open to all interested individuals (max. 100 people online) and will be held in German spoken language.
The second day (February 8th) is exclusively for neurodivergent and chronically ill individuals (max. 20 people online) and will be held in English spoken language.

Information on accessibility and language

The workshop is offered free of charge and in an online format via Zoom.
The workshop will take place in German spoken language on the first day and in English spoken language on the second day. Questions as well as exchange in smaller groups is possible in both languages on both days. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a permanent simultaneous translation between both languages.
The workshop is a Relaxed Event. Participants are invited to make noises, move around, stim and leave or re-enter the Zoom-Call at any time.

Pro Helvetia Schweizer Kulturstiftung
Lovis Heuss (they/them, 1990) is a Swiss transdisciplinary performer, drag artist and DJ based in Zurich. Their practice is guided by an expanded understanding of the arts, which is rooted in activism and often happens in queer subcultures, nightlife and collective structures. A key element of Lovis' artistic practice is the active inclusion of disabled and queer/trans/non-binary realities, the creation of accessible safe(r) spaces which can hold vulnerability, and knowledge transfer through community engagement.
Specialising in neurodivergence and access, Lovis regularly holds un//masking workshops and works as a Relaxed Performance consultant for Gessnerallee Zürich and ZAK. For their current research «un//masking» they have held a research LAB at Gessnerallee Zürich and self-published the zine series «un//masking the performing arts» in 2025. Bringing neurodivergent access knowledge and un//masking research together with their expertise in nightlife and queer subcultures is an evident next step.
