A House Comes Alive

The Gessnerallee is busy preparing for the coming season. Weekly letter #2

Team Gessnerallee, August 28, 2024

Dear Gessnerallee visitors, dear culture enthusiasts, dear artists

We are delighted that you have subscribed to our weekly letter. From now on, every Wednesday, you will receive news from Gessnerallee and the cultural life in the city of Zurich and beyond.

Having returned from our summer break two weeks ago the Gessnerallee is filled with busy preparations for the upcoming season. In a team of 32 permanent employees, we have 11 new people. All competent and motivated experts in their field of work. Some have years of experience, some have moved to Switzerland to work at Gessnerallee, and some have never worked at a cultural institution. They are already enriching our work with their fresh perspective on established processes.

If you would like to know who works at Gessnerallee as of now or have questions for specific team members, please visit our team page on the website.

Arrivals, familiarisation, training, and exchanges characterize these first few weeks. In the Halle, the large grandstand is being set up for the start of the season, Stall6 is being repainted in the wonderful colour royal blue, the technical team is visiting a networking course, the studios are being tidied up and thoroughly cleaned, the artists' flat is being refurnished and the offices are being equipped. We are preparing for artists, fans, interested parties, and the public to move in.

As an overview, we would like to share and refer you to our programme, newspaper articles, and other news:

Programme recommendation of the week

Furthermore

Enrollment for The LAB, Junges Theater Zürich's annual project for young people between 14 and 24 who are interested in theatre, is currently open. You can find more information about the project and how to apply on the website (only in German).

And as of next week, we will be focusing on drawing the attention of individuals and communities to our house and our programme and sending out personal invitations via postcards, emails and social networks. One of the most important goals of our vision for the Gessnerallee is to continuously fill the theatre with life. This goal can only be achieved together with many others - including you. So if you would like to find out more about us, and want to help us promote the first events, please come and visit us for a coffee or tea in our office. Ask us questions. Take some postcards and stickers with you and share our posts on social media.

If you would like to pick up promotional material such as postcards or stickers, you can drop by our office between September 2 and 26. We will be on-site from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 1 pm and 2 pm and 5 pm. As our offices are located on the first floor and there is no stepless access, we will be happy to meet you on the ground floor by prior appointment at barrierefreiheit@gessnerallee.ch. Address: Gessnerallee 8, 8001 Zurich.

We look forward to your visit - and your support in promoting the start of the season on 27/28 September and 4/5 October.

The Gessnerallee team
