Chuquimamani-Condori
The multidisciplinary artist and musician Chuquimamani-Condori belongs to the Pakajaqi nation of the Aymara people from the Andes. Under various pseudonyms, the artist has released several studio albums with a wide variety of musical styles. As Chuquimamani-Condori, the artist mixes the traditional drumming and ceremonial music of the Pakajaqueño family with harsh, colorful synthesizers and noises. There is an undisguised vulnerability in the raw, almost violent noise of the compositions. In the words of the artist, the result is «a cacophony of the first aurora, the call of the Chuqi Chinchay».
Chuquimamani-Condori's most recent works include «DJ E» (2023), «Rayo Mix» (2022), «Across the Policed World: A Transnocturnal Huayño» (2022) and «Amaru's Tongue: Daughter» (2021), a joint work with brother Joshua Chuquimia Crampton. Chuquimamani-Condori works with AIM SoCal, the Southern California chapter of the American Indian Movement (founded in 1968).
