This year, the ZURICH JAZZNOJAZZ FESTIVAL is grooving its way across the stages of the Gessnerallee for the 25th time - delighting a growing, curious and cross-generational audience. From 29 October to 1 November, around 15 concerts are on the packed programme.
The festival will be opened by the grande dame of jazz Dee Dee Bridgewater. This will be followed by jazz and bossa poetry from Rita Payés and sweat-inducing bass lines from Vincen Garcia. The Mike Stern Band, funk bass royalty Marcus Miller and Polish groove wonder Kinga Glyk deliver a fusion & funk platter in a class of its own on Thursday. This year's “groovy Friday” will be a UK music night with the Afrobeat sensation Kokoroko, followed by Maya Delilah, Stereo MC's and Kat Eaton. Beverley Knight, newcomer Gaidaa, Samm Henshaw and saxophonist Sam Greenfield will provide the soulful finishing touches on Saturday.
