Weekly letter

Next week is the start of the season and the opening of the Stall6 Bar

We are excited. And that's a good thing. Weekly letter #5

Dear Gessnerallee visitors, dear culture enthusiasts, dear artists

Only nine days to go until the start of the season. We are excited. And that's a good thing.

Because we are showing the invited works a maximum of two times on the four opening days (27.9/28.9 and 4.10/5.10), and some concerts only once, we recommend that you secure your tickets now. You can find the entire programme on our website: https://gessnerallee.ch/programm

Today in focus: the first weekend of the start of the season. ‘Down (full album)’ by Mélissa Guex is already sold out on Friday, 27 September. However, we are currently working with the technical and production management to increase capacity so that we can let even more people into the show. For those who are already getting nervous, we recommend booking a ticket for Saturday.

Fortunately, there are still tickets available for ‘The Making of Pinocchio’ by Cade & MacAskill, because this show is definitely not to be missed. For the programme team, this brilliantly crafted, funny and equally romantic work has been the theatre event of the last two years.

On 27 September, the Stall6 Bar also opens with a new look. The room glows in a calming royal blue colour, finely rounded off with gold edging. New guests: pinball machines and table football.

What's the best way to prepare for the start of the season? With a taste for theatre. And: bring an item of clothing, a bag, a towel, a scarf or another accessory with you. Because you can decorate these gems with glittering appliqués together with Petra Kenneth at the Manufacture.

‘Art in Conflict: Art Shaping Social Transformation’ by artasfoundation

The first event in the ‘Art in Conflict’ series of talks in cooperation with artasfoundation is taking place today at Stall6. The guests are Diala Brisly (visual artist, France) and Cindy Horst (Peace Research Institute Oslo PRIO, Norway). More information

‘Crip Lab’ by Criptonite

Criptonite, the Zurich-based crip-queer theatre project led by Edwin Ramirez and Nina Mühlemann, is organising a week-long laboratory for twelve disabled and chronically ill artists living in Switzerland. On the last day, the laboratory will open its doors and offer visitors the opportunity to get to know the artists and their work as part of a sharing event. More information

Newspaper

Yesterday we were delighted to put the first issue of the new Gessnerallee newspaper into print. It will be published at the start of the season on 27 September, costs five Swiss francs and is available at the Gessnerallee box office and via the website. At the same time, we learnt that the Züritipp will be discontinued at the end of 2024. That made us incredibly sad.

This is precisely why it is even more important than ever to celebrate the arts and artists in Zurich and far beyond. That's our plan. What is yours?

We look forward to seeing you. This week. Next week. And to all those that will follow.
