‘Unsightly Drag and Friends’ is a somewhat different cabaret evening with disabled and neurodivergent performers who are at home across the LGBTQQIA+ spectrum, also known as Queer Crips, or Quips for short. The drag kings, queens and things from Quiplash perform their way into the hearts of the audience with singing, dancing, lip sync and loads of glitter.

For this winter edition of ‘Unsightly Drag and Friends’, Quiplash’s very own Tito Bone, your average blind nonbinary bisexual drag king, will be your host. A glitter bearded wonder, Tito is the compere who will make you laugh cry and dad dance as they perform some of their favorite accessexy acts and most importantly, give you an idea of what it’s like to smell the world through their nose.

Tito will be accompanied by two of the original Unsightly cast: fellow badass blindies, Ebony Rose Dark and Venetia Blind, as well as their local seated, sighted and sexy Zurich based bestie Edwin Ramirez, known to many as a crip-queer community organizer, comedian and one half of Criptonite.

Under the slogan ‘Joy as an act of resistance’, Unsightly Drag and Friends will be filling the space with all sorts of laughter, lots of queer and crip joy and - most importantly - a show filled to the brim with excellent integrated audio description - what a gay old time!

Accessibility information

The show lasts approximately 120 minutes with a 20-minute intermission in the middle of the evening. All performances as well as the integrated audio description (audible throughout the space) are in English spoken language with various accents. The shows are Relaxed Performances. Noises and movements from the audience are explicitly welcome. Audience members can leave the space and come back at any time.

For people with a basic knowledge of English who are unsure whether they will understand the whole performance, we offer whispered translations in German. Pre-booking via barrierefreiheit@gessnerallee.ch.

Detailed information on accessibility, especially on sensory triggers and content notes, will follow.
