Listening connects. Listening takes time. In «UNTER UNS», the audience explores, through deep listening, the hidden worlds of the ground as a living treasure in an experimental theatrical experience. The scenography consists of an inflatable shell that takes up the entire performance space, making the outside world disappear. Inside the shell, visitors encounter an expansive, sounding and shaking floor. As a giant musical instrument, it invites you to lie down and listen to it. Those who do are immersed in a dynamic resonance chamber of sounds and noises that can be freely associated with soil, ground or subsoil: with the rumbling depths and treasures of the earth, as well as the living surface on which countless creatures leave their traces each day.

Dimitri de Perrot uses sound as a central theatrical narrative device in his expansive productions. He understands hearing and sensing sound as a skill that must be practiced and cultivated again and again in order for it to unfold. His spatial and sound installations create spaces for reflection that allow us to think about the boundaries between the individual and community and the connection to a shared reality.

Accessibility

The installation is fully accessible. For the full sound experience, it is recommended that you lie down on the floor. The floor is slightly raised and fitted with carpet.

Notes on sensory stimuli

  • At the beginning of the event, the audience is greeted and given socks for the duration of the performance

  • The performance space is occupied by a high, tent-like, inflatable shell

  • The tent-like structure in which the audience is located rises and falls gently. The lowering can have a constricting effect.

  • The sounds and the perceptible bass are sometimes reminiscent of earthquakes.

  • The way into the performance space is a narrow, high corridor, lit with a few spotlights.
