«Tourist Trap»
Thom Luz & Ensemble

The musical theatre creation transports the audience to an abandoned tourist magnet. On the ruins of a once splendid place, fleeting illusions of a time long gone are created.

Five forgotten employees wait for customers in the withered ruins of a once buzzing tourist magnet, resurrecting the old splendour of the place from rubble and leftover instruments. Because, as in real life, if you can no longer create an illusion, you're finished. But memories are notoriously fragmentary and contradictory, and where have we ended up here anyway? Is this a viewpoint or a dead end? A fashionable health resort? A sacred place, or just a backdrop? And where have all the people, trees, animals and wonders disappeared to?

A new musical theatre creation, finely composed by Thom Luz & Ensemble.

‘A single spotlight and an old mirror that throws the cone of light back into the darkness: that's all it takes for Thom Luz to amaze his audience. His theatre is one of fleeting phenomena, and thus one that makes time itself tangible.’ (Mathias Balzer, Jury Swiss Theatre Award 2019)

‘Thom Luz is a director who could stage even a cookbook.’ (Marina Davydova, Head of Drama Salzburg Festival 2024)
